The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free hiring event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in the Sacramento area on Thursday, June 25. This event, the RecruitMilitary Career Fair, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at DeVry University – Sacramento Center in Elk Grove.

VSP’s charitable Sight for Students program announced it helped the 500,000th child since its start in 1997. Sight for Students offers qualified families with vouchers to visit one of 25,000 approved doctors that provide comprehensive eye exams and identify vision issues. Doctors will also prescribe glasses. The program has funded nearly $100 million in free eyecare and eyewear for low-income, uninsured and underinsured children.

ThermoGenesis Corp, a Rancho Cordova based developer and supplier of products that process and store adult stem cells announced Monday that products derived from its Intellectual Property have been used to collect, process, and store stem cells from cord blood in more than one million procedures since the products were released 10 years ago.

As another sign that the local economy is suffering, Health Net will lay off 58 people from its offices in Rancho Cordova by March 13, according to a notice filed with state officials.
