Last week, Congresswoman Doris Matsui announced that Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and local partners will receive $5 million in federal grant funding from the Department of Energy (DOE) for the installation of California’s first ‘Solar Highway,’ a co-digestion facility, and three anaerobic digesters. This funding was authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

In the fourth quarter alone, the average asking lease rate fell from $1.70 to $1.62. This was the biggest single quarter drop ever, in fact asking lease rates in Highway 50 are now at late 1990 levels. With fewer tenants in the market, downsizing, lots of vacancies, and rates at 1990 levels, there is no new construction.

This month marks the launch of an innovative digital advertising partnership by local online publishers in Sacramento. In an effort to better serve the needs of local, independent online publishers, The Sacramento Press has formed a local vertical media ad network dubbed SLOAN: Sacramento Local Online Advertising Network.
